Dolphin-Human Interaction Program
Patricia “Pattie” Pellicciotti’s program with dolphins is a wonderful story full of warmth and love for the people she guides and assists in an astonishing new form of therapy, and for the fascination mammals that willingly cooperate with her.
Dolphins communicate with each other using a variety of intuitive vision and acoustic signals. They also possess a special sensor ability, a biological sonar called echolocation, with which they can “see” objects and people and that helps them in recognizing what or who they have in front of them and also their general state of health. Dolphins always recognize a group who is the weakest person that might need their assistance.
Patricia has strong ties with dolphins and she makes always sure that the environment in which she operates guarantees their well-being and those they are protected in accordance with the Dolphin Protection Association Standards.
Recent science research has experimented and proves that dolphin-human interaction stimulates theta brainwave activity coupled with strong endorphin release. This minimizes tension, aggressiveness, relieves chronic depression and improves cognitive response, especially in mentally handicapped children.
Dolphin therapy works and is particularly successful with children with a wide scope of disabilities including autism, ADD, ADHD, hyperactivity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, cancer, leukemia, dyslexia and many more. It has become evident after encounters and interactions with these mammals that they generate an intense emotion of love and connection to nature, which is transferred to the humans (child or adult) nearest them.
Patricia assists the families also before and after the therapies through her Indigo Wisdom Program, Happy Face. She studies the cases and helps the family envision what goals can be realistically anticipated, based on the condition of the child. She accompanies the parents on location and stays with them for moral support, program monitoring and trains them in the interaction roles necessary in this program to make it effective. In addition, Patricia offers support playgroup with the child before and after the session that augments the effectiveness of the dolphin-swim (as she does when she is the head master and coordinator of the Dolphin-Human Interaction Therapy).
In Patricia’s words: “Although no one claims to have a cure or a solution to these illnesses, the depth of what will release the energy and joy needed to improve therapy, learning abilities, relaxation, communication and socialization is immense. Being with these children, exceptional creatures of God, enriched me, and the dolphins recharge my psychic capabilities. I even sense that our experiences with the group therapy having produced desired results in less time than most programs, that perhaps the key is the two of us working together, me and the dolphins and beluga whales, two kindred souls, shaman spiritual healers. These are the rewards and sensations that supersede any other incentive for performing this type of study. Thanks kids!”
